MOSCOW CARGO TEAM VISITS LOTTA LLC: A UNIQUE JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF MARINE AQUATICS

27/02/2026

More than a year ago, Moscow Cargo, LLC established a partnership with Lota, LLC, a company specializing in the supply of unique aquatic organisms for oceanariums and marine aquarium enthusiasts. Yulia Sapronova, General Director of Lota, LLC, extended an invitation to the Moscow Cargo team to visit their extraordinary office, which features a stunning collection of aquariums housing a diverse array of marine life, including fish, corals, anemones, sea stars, crustaceans, and mollusks.

During the visit, Yulia Sapronova and Rumesh, a specialist in oceanarium operations, provided an in-depth overview of the complex journey that exotic aquatic organisms undertake before reaching Russian customers—a process that can sometimes take several months. The journey begins in the open sea, where divers from the exporting company carefully search for and capture select specimens. Following capture, the organisms undergo rigorous veterinary inspection and are placed in extended quarantine to prevent the spread of disease. Each shipment presents a unique logistical challenge, as transport containers are customized for each species. While some fish can tolerate travel in relatively compact volumes of water, others, such as the blacktip reef shark, require spacious containers to allow for continuous movement. The water in these containers is oxygen-enriched to sustain the organisms for up to 48 hours of transit. Given the critical importance of minimizing transport time, Moscow Cargo's role as the handling operator is to ensure the swift offloading of cargo from arriving aircraft, its prompt delivery to the terminal, efficient processing, and timely release to the consignee.

Upon arrival, all specimens are once again placed in quarantine aquariums, where they acclimatize under the close supervision of ichthyologists. The quarantine period is individualized, lasting a minimum of 21 days, and in some cases extending further. Following quarantine, the organisms are transferred to the exhibition area, from which they are dispatched to private aquariums and oceanariums across Russia. As the Moscow Cargo team discovered, the exhibition area offers a captivating and immersive experience, allowing visitors to observe the intricate lives of these underwater inhabitants for hours on end. A short video capturing the team's impressions has been shared across Moscow Cargo's social media channels, including VKontakte, Telegram, and Dzen.

Moscow Cargo, LLC extends its sincere gratitude to Lota, LLC for their warm hospitality and looks forward to welcoming new and unique underwater inhabitants in the future.
