START OF A NEW PROJECT OF AVIATION CENTER FOR ELECTRONIC DECLARATION

23/12/2021

Sheremetyevo International Airport and Moscow Cargo, LLC have started the construction of a new building designed as the Aviation Electronic Declaration Center - AEDC. The project is being implemented as part of the Airport's Long-Term Development Programme and is linked to the Transport Strategy of the Russian Federation, which is aimed, among other things, at increasing the competitiveness of the Russian transport infrastructure in the international transportation market in general and increasing Russia's share in the global volume of air cargo transportation in particular.

The decision to build a new AEDC building with its further transfer to federal ownership by the Sheremetyevo Customs was taken by MASH, JSC, taking into account the increased importance of air cargo transportation in the effective economic activity of the country during the COVID-19 pandemic and the growth in the volume of medical cargo.

It is planned that a new high-tech three-story building with an area of 2,820 m2 for 400 jobs will be put into operation as early as 2022. The project was developed in accordance with modern requirements for capital construction projects: a central air conditioning system, two independent power supplies (main and backup), an automated fire safety system, and the use of energy-saving materials are provided. The interior layout of the building includes bright, spacious office areas with high ceilings and high-quality furnishes, organization of a meeting room, lounges and dining areas. Also, next to the AEDC building, there will be a fully equipped parking for employees.

The new AEDC complex will be located on a site directly adjacent to the territory of the Sheremetyevo customs central building, and within walking distance from the Moscow Cargo office center, which will simplify the procedure for cargo owners and brokers to make an appointment with the head of the AEDC and resolving customs clearance issues.

Sheremetyevo has been maintaining the status of the main aviation cargo hub of the Russian Federation for many years thanks to the dynamic development of cargo infrastructure, attraction of new airlines, as well as effective interaction with the Sheremetyevo customs, which is aimed at creating the most favorable conditions for participants in foreign economic activity (FEA). Putting at the end of 2017 of the high-tech terminal Moscow Cargo with a total area of 42,300 sq. m and a handling capacity of 380 thousand tonnes of cargo per year into operation allowed Sheremetyevo to expand its route network and significantly increase cargo turnover on international routes served by the airport. For 11 months of 2021, the volume of international cargo traffic handled by Sheremetyevo reached 255.5 thousand tonnes, thus exceeding the record numbers for the full year of 2019 by 4% and amounting to about 83% of all international cargo transported through the airports of the Moscow Aviation Hub.
