HANDLING OF ILYA REPIN'S PAINTINGS FROM THE TRETYAKOV GALLERY COLLECTION
09/02/2026
Two Volga-Dnepr Airlines flights delivered a selection of Ilya Repin's paintings from the Tretyakov Gallery collection to Russia last week. The works, which were featured in the exhibition "Art Without Borders: Ilya Repin," formed part of one of China's most significant cultural events and marked the conclusion of the Russia–China Years of Culture 2024–2025.
According to Tatiana Yudenkova, Deputy Director of the Tretyakov Gallery and curator of the exhibition, "Repin has been known and loved in China since the mid-20th century, when Soviet artists introduced realistic painting techniques there in the 1950s. At that time, Surikov and Repin were the greatest idols in Chinese art." Running from July 22, 2025, to January 11, 2026, the exhibition attracted more than 350,000 visitors.
Mr. Jin Shanyi, Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, emphasized the importance of introducing his compatriots to the distinctive work of the Russian artist: "Ilya Repin is a pivotal figure in Russian realist painting. His works demonstrate the master's unique skill in handling color and light, while also offering us a vivid impression of the era in which the artist lived and worked."
Moscow Cargo Terminal is proud to have played a role in this landmark cultural project and extends its sincere gratitude to its clients for their trust and continued partnership at Sheremetyevo International Airport.
